Founded in 1963, the ballet company has been under the artistic direction of Gari Boehm and Patricia Thornton since 1988. The company performs at the Wichita Falls Memorial Auditorium. The season includes The Nutcracker in December, "an Afternoon with the Arts" in April, school demonstrations, guest performers and benefits. The company holds "Honor Company" status with the Southwestern Regional Ballet Association.

The home of the Wichita Falls Ballet Theatre and the Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra, this 2,717-seat auditorium hosts nearly 50 events each year, including concerts and Broadway-style shows. The World War and Spanish War Veteran memorials are also on the grounds.

More than 70 members perform a full season of concerts each year at the Wichita Falls Memorial Auditorium. The Orchestra has been performing a variety of works for more than 50 years. A special Children's Concert Series is also offered.

This statue by artist Jack Stevens is a tribute to the Native American tribes of Texoma. The piece depicts men, women and children and the Wichita River. It is on display at the Old Original Falls on Berends Landing in Wichita Falls.

For those of you who are into Geocaching (www.geocaching.com) there are two geocaches near the statue. 

Location: Harold Jones Park at 9th and Broad Streets

The widely celebrated sculptor George Sugarman designed this piece in 1982 to recognize Wichita Falls' centennial birthday. The subject of this remarkable work is the city's official flower, the crape myrtle.

Located in the vast, flat prairies of North Texas, Lake Arrowhead State Park attracts boaters and fishing enthusists with its 16,200 acres and more than 100 miles of shoreline. From fishing piers or by boat, visitors can angle for crappie, catfish, bass and perch. Visitors may also catch glimpses of the area's wild inhabitants, such as raccons, skunks and even prairie dogs. Several trails are provided for hiking and riding.

Built in 1986 to replace the falls that washed away in a flood more than 100 years ago, the 54-foot man-made waterfall is a multilevel cascade on the south bank of the Wichita River. Enjoy the trails, playground, pool and pavilions at connecting Lucy Park.

Memorial Stadium boasts the first Astroturf field in Texas and the second in the nation. In June, the 14,500 seat auditorium hosts the annual Shriner's Oil Bowl All-Star football game between Texas and Oklahoma. In addition to being the home field for the three local high school play-off games. Hoskins Baseball Field is the home field for the local high school baseball teams and boasts one of the better playing surfaces in the state. Soccer, softball and track facilities are also located within the complex.

Built in 1909 by Frank Kell, one of the city's founders, this home is now a Texas Historic Landmark. The house features original Kell family furnishings and is maintained by the Wichita County Heritage Society. Open Tuesday and Thursday from 9am-3pm. Wednesday and Friday from 1-3pm and Saturday and Sunday from 2-4pm.

Referred to as the "littlest skyscraper in the world", this diminutive structure stands four stories high and one room wide. According to legend, the building was part of a $200,000 stock sting during the oil boom.

Currently being refurbished into an Antique Shop and due to be open any day now (as of Nov 2005).

The site of the former Union Station features equipment from six Texas railroads, including 14 pieces of rolling stock, 11 rail maintenance vehicles, a diesel locomotive and a steam locomotive. Open Monday-Saturday, noon-4pm

This nonprofit environmental education center boasts the Elizabeth Prothro Pavilion, which overlooks one of the most beautiful parts of Wichita Falls. Visitors can enjoy the wetland pond habitat, bird habitat, weather station, and an outdoor butterfly garden as well as a one-mile interpretive nature trail that winds through the center.
