Cracker Barrel is OPEN
I just heard it on the radio yesterday, and called this morning to confirm it... Cracker Barrel is now open (they opened Sept 3rd, 2007). Their hours of business are 6am-10pm Sun-Thu and 6am-11pm Fri-Sat. For those of you who do not know where they are located, they are on the north side of town by the Super Walmart located on I-44. I am very happy to have a Cracker Barrel in town - my family always stops at one when we are on the road traveling - I think we may wait a week for the crowds to die down though... If you want to call the Cracker Barrel and ask any questions, their number is 940-851-0664. RS

Lunar Eclipse
What category do you fit into: 1. saw the lunar eclipse, 2. missed the lunar eclipse, 3. the what? I got lucky and saw the lunar eclipse, and yes -- it was cool. If you're like me (I know you are cause you're reading this blog) you're a bit of a geek. You too like to catch the surprising details of life instead of slubbing through the years gaining fat cells and wrinkles. I would have missed the eclipse except for the beautiful workings of technology. I was browsing the Internet, just like surfing but at a slower pace, when I stumbled across two really cool websites space.com and earthsky.org. Both have really great monthly calendars meant for the amateur star-gazer or curious individual, but earthsky.org also has a sign-up list where professional star-gazers notify you via email of really cool celestial events occurring in your area. In two seconds I was signing up with a big "YES, I would like to be informed of celestial happens." Check out the websites, get on "the list," and know that there is someone out there just as geeky as you checking out the night sky. DS

The new Baymont and Days Inn
Must be getting close to opening - I can see curtains hanging in the windows of the Baymont. It's a shame that they closed Ruby Tequila's so soon to the Hotels and Doctor's clinic right next door. If you would like to comment on this post just click the title.

HHH 2007 - our first ride
Some of you may have noticed that Wichita Falls Central was NOT at the start line taking pictures this year ? we have a good reason for this. After 5+ years of taking photos we finally had to join the fun. So, this year for the first time our entire family hit the road on our bikes and completed the 25 mile ride. We had a great time and hope to do it again next year! I think a lot of the fun comes from the rest stops and the fun themes they come up with. Our ride only had two rest stops, so I can't comment on any that I did not see. I must say that the two we stopped at were wonderful ? our first stop was the "PIRATE" rest stop located on Rifle Range Road. Our second and final rest stop was on Sheppard Air Force Base and my family could not stop talking about how wonderful it was. They really put a lot of work into arranging the aircraft for a static display ?ride through? and when you exit the rest stop you got to ride through a corridor of hundreds of servicemen and women cheering you on!!!
